Mission Trip

Praying for our Spring Break Mission Teams

Post Icon

Every Spring Break, Southeastern Seminary provides students with the opportunity to go—whether it’s across the globe or just a few states over. This semester, we’re sending our students to serve among the hustle and bustle of New York City, in the rural mountains of  Kentucky, and throughout a Central Asian country rich with biblical history. These three destinations each represent important and strategic areas for the gospel: rural areas, unreached people group populations, and megacities.

Even more, each of these represent all that we, as a seminary desire to be a part of as equip others to serve: church planting and revitalization, evangelism, and discipleship. These trips are a great reminder that no one thing is more important than the other. We are a Great Commission seminary, and all of these are pertinent and necessary in our obedience to the Great Commission.

Speaking of pertinent and necessary things… These teams need our prayers! Below you can find a quick summary of each of these trips with specific ways you can pray this upcoming week as they go.

Kentucky/WV Team

Life is difficult for those in poverty and who are struggling with literacy in this rural area of the country. Students will seek to reach their neighbors with the Gospel on this GenSend experience in partnership with Send Relief’s Appalachian Ministry Center.

Pray:

  • For our students as they go.

  • Safety in travel.

  • God would use this experience in their life to shape their future ministries.

  • For boldness to share the gospel.

  • For the people of Ashland Kentucky and Huntington West Virginia.

  • That God would continue to bless the work He started there.

  • That people would come to see the grace of Christ.

Nyc team

This trip is an opportunity for students to see what North American church planting in an urban context looks like. The team will help with a variety of projects that will benefit the unique needs of the churches they are partnering with, including evangelism, prayer, city surveys, and event coordination. They will be working directly with NAMB church planters.

Pray:

  • For the good work SEBTS students are doing to plant and revitalize churches in NYC.

  • For our team of 14 and ask God to give us direction as to the best ways to minister to all those we encounter.

  • For God to burden the hearts of students for the great need in cities like NYC and ask Him to raise up more laborers to go.

  • For protection for the team.

  • For God to establish healthy churches among the diverse nations who call NYC home.

Central Asia team

The Central Asia Study Tour is an opportunity for students to engage in cultural immersion and leadership training alongside new believers from closed countries. Students will visit important biblical sites across this Central Asian country, while engaging with other believers to encourage and learn from one another.

Pray:

  • Especially for the potential impact of the coronavirus. The team has already had to alter their plans, so pray that all will come together with the team.

  • For safety and good health.

  • For the relationships that will be formed between our students and other believers.

  • For opportunities to share as they travel.
