A #GreatCommission Recap

In this week’s #GreatCommission Recap, we share about the current conflict in Lebanon, introduce you to our IMB Student Mobilizer, and hear from Kevin S. Hall on some important ways we can help missionaries.

An Eye on the Nations

The Lebanese Prime Minister stepped down this week after consistent protests throughout the nation. The protests have continued despite his resignation as citizens fight for even more reform within the government. Unfortunately, Lebanon faces extreme uncertainty and potential financial crisis heading into the future. Even still, the difficulties are providing strategic opportunities for the gospel. The Mission Network News provides some specific ways we can pray for the crisis that ensues:

“Pray for society to continue growing more open to the Gospel in Lebanon. Ask God to give Lebanese Christians opportunities to share His love and the work of the cross. Pray for continued tolerance and peace in Lebanon.”

May we pray for Lebanon according to God’s Word: “Come, behold the works of the Lord, how he has brought desolations on the earth. He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; he breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the chariots with fire. ‘Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!’ The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. (Psalm 46:8-11).

Mobilizing Students to Go: An Interview with Megan Lindsay

We introduce you to Megan Lindsay, a Student Mobilizer on campus for the International Mission Board.

My missions story is funny because God sent me to a people I did not initially see myself connecting with or relating to at all. I actually prayed that he would not send me to East Asia!

Helping Missionaries Rather Than Hurting Them

Kevin S. Hall shares some specific ways we can help missionaries in our short-term trip endeavors rather than hurting them.

Understand the ministry – This sounds like a no-brainer, but sometimes it isn’t. Know what kind of work the missionaries are doing. Don’t join them with expectations to do something in particular when their ministry is something entirely different.
