Mission Trips and Course Equivalency

This page explains how approved mission trips apply toward academic course requirements. Students should review the information below to understand how Crossover, International and North American mission trips fulfill specific degree requirements.

Student Eligibilities:

1. All enrolled degree-seeking students

2. All enrolled non-degree-seeking/credit only students

3. Most certificate students are NOT allow to be on a trip EXCEPT certificate students in Great Commission Studies program.

Please note: Whether you choose to take the trip as an elective or simply want it reflected as an additional course on your transcript, you are welcome to join.

Registration Process:

Enrollment in mission trip courses is completed through the trip application process with the Center for Great Commission Studies:

  • Submit your trip application via the website, and
  • Pay the required deposit

Please note: Mission Trip Course Registration is not available through Self-Service. Your application and deposit together serve as your official course registration.

Crossover Trips

All Crossover Mission Trips offered by the Center for Great Commission Studies are considered academically equivalent to the following course:
→ MIS3992/6992 - Crossover Practicum

Key Notes:
- Completion of any of these Crossover trips satisfies the requirements of MIS3992/6992.
- Crossover trips will NOT satisfy the requirements of MIS3990/6990 and MIS3991/6991.
- Crossover Credit is applicable towards the following degrees: Master of Arts in Intercultural Studies (M.A.I.S.), Master of Divinity in Missiology (MDiv), Master of Divinity in NACP (MDiv) and Timothy Scholars Program.
- Typical duration of Crossover is 6 days (Sunday night - Saturday morning) during Summer Break.

International Mission Trips

All International Mission Trips offered by the Center for Great Commission Studies are considered academically equivalent to the following course:
→ MIS3990/6990 - Practicum in International Missions

Key Notes:
- Completion of any of these International trips satisfies the requirements of MIS3990/6990.
- Typical North American trip durations are 10 days for Winter and Summer Break trips, and 7 days for Spring and Fall Break trips.


North American Trips

All North American Mission Trips offered by the Center for Great Commission Studies are considered academically equivalent to the following course:
→ MIS3991/6991 - Practicum in North American Missions

Key Notes:
- Completion of any of these North America trips satisfies the requirements of MIS3991/6991.
- Typical North American trip durations are 10 days for Winter and Summer Break trips, and 7 days for Spring and Fall Break trips.
