The Center for Great Commission Studies is excited to host the first Southeastern 5K around Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and Wake Forest! Taking place from 9-10am on February 2, 2019 right before our annual Global Missions Week, we want to raise awareness for the needs of the mission field and raise funds for international students and women to be equipped and trained as future missionaries. This 5K is open to anyone, including students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the community of Wake Forest! The registration fee includes the race entry, post-race refreshments, coffee, and more! How much does it cost to participate and when is the last day to register?

The price depends on when you register and whether you are a current student of Southeastern (college or seminary). The price schedule is as follows:

*You can also register the morning of the event, but you will not be guaranteed to receive a race shirt.

What is included in the cost?

The pre-registration fee covers your cost to race and you will receive your bib, an RFID tracker that will measure your time, a race shirt, and post-race refreshments!

How will the money raised be used?

Net proceeds for the Southeastern 5K will be donated to The Katy Hardy Memorial Scholarship fund. This scholarship is an endowed student aid fund for women and/or international students, established in loving memory of Kathryn (Katy) Marie Hardy. Katy Hardy was born and grew up in Oklahoma. She was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, who always gave generously of her time and herself. Katy devoted herself to helping others and advocating for international students. The Katy Hardy Memorial Scholarship Fund shall be used to provide financial assistance to students attending Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and The College At Southeastern.

What is the schedule for the 5K?

On the day of the race, the general schedule is as follows:

7:30am: Registration Opens + Packet Pickup
9:00am: 5K Race Begins
10:00am: Finish Line Closes

Who can participate?

This 5K is open to anyone, including students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the community of Wake Forest! Minors who are participating will also need to have their waiver signed by a legal guardian.

What happens in the event of inclement weather?

If weather conditions are too harsh to conduct the race, we will notify you of its cancellation via email prior to the event.

Will there be restrooms available?

Restrooms will be available in the Ledford Center (beside the starting/finishing point).

Where does the race start/finish and what route will it take?

The race will start and finish at the field in front of Patterson Hall and beside the Ledford Center.

Registration begins at 7:30am, but you can avoid the lines that morning by picking up your materials early:

Can my friends and family come watch/cheer?

YES! We highly encourage families and friends to come to the race to cheer on our runners! The post-race refreshments will also be available for spectators.

Is this race a part of Global Missions Week?

YES! The Southeastern 5K will be the kickoff for our annual Global Missions Week. More information for Global Missions Week will be coming soon!
