State Demographic Research Project

The Strategic Focus Team of the Baptist State Convention of NC is looking for Southeastern students who can help with demographic research during the Fall 2018 semester.

Our research has identified the top 250 pockets of lostness across the state. Think of these pockets as gospel deserts; small geographic areas where the unchurched population is growing unusually fast. These pockets are comprised of numerous demographic segments. These segments often require a unique approach to evangelism and discipleship. Those participating in this research project will be helping identify the people living in these segments in order to assist churches in their missionary efforts to engage NC’s pockets of lostness.

Students will identify and document these segments, using several online tools. Training is required and provided. The training session will take place on September 26 from 4:00-6:30pm in Jacumin-Simpson on Southeastern’s campus. Students who satisfactorily complete the training and participate in the research effort will receive a scholarship from the Baptist State Convention toward their studies at SEBTS.
