Exciting Update from New Jersey Church Plant

ChristOurHopeWhen asked about planting churches, John Piper responded, “We have a great God, a great Savior, a great gospel, a great vision of God’s sovereign grace, and we want to see more and more incarnations of this in local churches.” Christ our Hope, in Clifton NJ, is one such incarnation. This plant has been working hard since their start just over a year ago and are seeing the fruit of their labor. Check out their update below, see what’s happening, and join them in prayer.

Greetings from Christ Our Hope Church! Thank you for your prayers and generous support. The Lord is at cohwork in North Jersey and he is using you in encouraging us and answering your prayers.

The Church is Growing! This past year, we have added several new members and at the end of this month, Lord willing, we will be adding several more. We are thankful for the LORD adding new workers for the harvest.

A Spring Full of Outreach! This Spring, the church was heavily involved in outreach and encouraged by visits from several partners. First, for Easter, we canvassed our local neighborhoods and eight first time guests joined us for worship. Two weeks later, our brother Tommy Waltz visited. Tommy leads an open-air ministry, Gospel of God Ministries, and is also our brother from our sending church, Open Door Church in Raleigh. Over four days, we evangelized all over Clifton. The church was ready to serve, even Pastor Wes took up the microphone!

The next week, Pastors Barry Tice and Josh Cochran from First Baptist Tallassee, Alabama, visited us to encourage the church and to gain a vision for future partnership.

coh2Our Spring outreach culminated in the Downtown Clifton Annual Street Fair. Dear brothers and sisters from Christ Covenant Church in Raleigh came to join us in evangelism, and John Luther shared with the church principles for running a business as a Christian with gospel intentionality. On Sunday, Pastor Dwayne Milioni from Open Door shared a brief word of encouragement.

How Can You Pray for Us?

  • Be in prayer for the week of July 11-18—three different teams will be coming to join us for ServeClifton.
  • Be in prayer for the many Muslims in our area during Ramadan. Pray for opportunities to share and boldness.
  • Pray for wisdom as we move in the direction of appointing deacons.

Pray for unity, maturity, holiness, and love for the Body.
