Today, Pray for the Planters at SouthCoast Church

5d3217eb-5c59-4779-8af1-cf6823542e67Church planting is not for the fainthearted. Unexpected hurdles are inevitable. Chad and Jodi Hartis—SouthCoast Church in Darthmouth, MA—testify to this reality. Some curveballs were thrown their way, to say the least. But through this, they witnessed God’s goodness and provision. As their September launch date arrives, be in prayer for this couple and their team. Read over their update, hear what God has been doing, and partner with them in prayer.

“The past couple months have been crazy! We have come to find though, that during some of the most uncertain times, God’s presence, power, and provision are most evident.

As we continued to draw closer to our 9/13/15 launch date, there were still a lot of puzzle pieces that needed to come together.   At this crucial time, a couple from our launch team felt God calling them elsewhere, and Chad spent 17 days in the hospital with a ruptured appendix. It was a difficult time to say the least. But during this time God blessed us in so many ways. We were also able to take advantage of our time at the hospital to build relationships with staff and guest.

Just last week our family had dinner with one of the roommates from our time there and we plan to continue growing that relationship. We were able to see first-hand that God really does cause all things to work together for the good of those who love him and are called according to his purpose.   As Chad recovered from his surgeries five more people that we have been praying about said that they feel like God may be calling them to be a part of our launch team.

God also opened up the doors for more direct conversations about the gospel with people. Jodi shared the gospel with her friend Susan, and our relationship with Sebastion, Kelli, and Elise continues to grow. They have been coming to our Friday Night Bible Studies for the past 2 months.   We have been so blessed by our partner churches and individual partners these past few months! After a long process of trying to nail down a meeting location God has opened up the door for us to meet at an event hall called “Rachel’s Lakeside” here in Dartmouth.

Please be in prayer for:

  • Summer contacts and Outreach Events (7/18, 8/22, 9/5).
  • Preview Services (8/16, 8/30)
  • Our goal of 100 people on Launch Sunday (9/15)
  • Relationships with Susan, Harvey, Cole, Sebastian, Kelli, and Elise
  • Employment and housing for Josh Poitras, as he moves to join the team.”
