This week the planter spotlight comes out of the Big Apple—The Bridge Church in Brooklyn, NYC. As we approach the Christmas holiday, here is a glance into what’s happening in Brooklyn and some ways to partner with this church plant.
This Christmas season we are starting a 4 week series on the life of Jesus that will lead us into the New Year. Our desire is to use this series as an outreach to our community. We long to see more and more nonbelievers get connected with our church.
Pray that God will use this series in a powerful way, drawing many more to Him.
We had a mission team of 8 college students from Louisiana Tech University here to advance our outreach on campus. The students gave 100 cups of hot chocolate to LIU Brooklyn students on a cold morning.
Each student who received a cup of hot chocolate was invited to a Thanksgiving Celebration lunch the following week in the campus ministry office. Pastor James & Josh were able to host a lunch and individually meet 25 new students & introduce to them the Missional Community that will be started next semester. 13 students expressed interest in attending!
Pray that God would continue to open doors with students on the LIU campus.
The good news of Jesus is continually transforming us as a community. As we grow deeper in our relationships with one another, God is faithfully unifying us as a family on mission in Brooklyn. More people have expressed they want to be baptized & we cannot take credit for what God is doing in our church. As a church, we want to do life together and know one another as brother & sister. This Thanksgiving each City Group gathered and shared a meal together. Praise God that we have each other to belong in a family!
Pray that we would continue to strive for unity in the body of Christ as we serve one another.
We are launching a campaign called The Known Campaign. The purpose of this campaign is to help people understand that a Holy God knows them and that they are not forgotten. We are going to be distributing over 150 sweatshirts to the homeless community in Brooklyn. We will be pairing these sweatshirts with other essential toiletry items. These items will be distributed to a local shelter in Brooklyn.
Pray that this outreach would help people understand that they are seen and loved by God.
