The Bridge Church, Wilmington

On Thursdays, we introduce to you a church planting effort in North America. For many SEBTS current and previous students, this is their mission field. We regularly keep up with them, receiving their updates and newsletters and we pray for them. So, we want to hand off that blessing to you. This week, I want to share what God has been doing through the Bridge Church in Wilmington, North Carolina. The Bridge Church has some wonderful strategies in place that intentionally step outside the box of traditional models. If you’re a church planter in North America, these programs may be useful for you.

Directly behind our new facility is Snipes Academy of Art and Design, a public elementary school. Snipes is designated as a North Carolina Title 1 school, meaning that many of the students are from under-resourced areas and thus receive free or reduced lunch. In fact, at Snipes, 100% of the student body qualifies for free or reduced lunch. We know that God has called us to be For The City, so we hosted a free lunch for the teachers at Snipes Academy to show our support for them. We are excited to have such great neighbors right behind us and to be able to serve them throughout the year!

This Fall, the city of Wilmington welcomes over 40,000 college students between the University of North Carolina-Wilmington and Cape Fear Community College, one of the largest community colleges in Eastern North Carolina. Please join in praying with us for these college students, as the college years are a pivotal time of spiritual formation for young adults. Please pray that we will be able to reach many of these students and see many of them come to faith in Christ or be strengthened in their faith.
