What’s SEND North America? Many would first think that it’s a strategy to discover and deploy church planters to the lesser reached areas of North America, especially some key cities that desperately need the gospel of Jesus Christ. But that’s only half the equation.
Adopted by The North American Mission Board (NAMB) of the SBC, this evangelistic church planting strategy is also about mobilizing churches. Local churches are challenged to take the lead in planting churches by becoming a Supporting Church, Sending Church, or Multiplying Church. You can learn more about these partnership possibilities, as well as other ways to be part of SEND North America, by visiting Mobilize Me
Here’s an example of one local church that has taken up the cause: Calvary Baptist Church in Winston Salem, NC has decided to partner with NAMB and the Canadian National Baptist Convention (CNBC) to reduce lostness in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. With the expansion of the oil and gas industry, Calgary has one of the fastest growing economies and populations in the world. Situated next to the Bow River with the Canadian Rockies on the horizon, Calgary has an astounding landscape.
Amidst all this growth and picturesque landscape is a great need for church planting teams to engage and serve 95% of the growing and diverse peoples living in this area that have no relationship with Jesus Christ. Next week, we’ll explore how Calvary is getting involved and some ways some of you may want to join them.
