On Thursdays, we want to make you aware of a church planting effort in North America. Today, we’re excited to introduce the a particular family to you. For privacy’s sake, we’ve changed their names. Below is a glimpse into their world. Please pray for the church Utah. By the way, if you are interested, check out our upcoming trip to Salt Lake City over fall break here.
We are basically at a stalemate with the job and housing search in Utah while we’re still living here in Wake Forest, NC. Since John is taking his last 2 classes (hooray!) online this summer, we have decided to move forward. John is going to head out to Utah at the end of this month to find and start a job so that we can then proceed with seeking out a house or apartment. The girls and I are going to stay with my parents in Texas until everything is settled in. This will save us money on July rent and utilities, as John has a free place to stay.
Now for the prayer requests:
1) We whole-heartedly love our friends, neighbors, and especially our church here. It is going to be very difficult to leave this spiritually-rich community. It has been an enormous blessing to be here in Wake Forest, at Southeastern, and at North Wake Church. We understand that we are headed into a dark and oppressive spiritual environment where it may be difficult to make friends and be part of the community–in which we desire to be Salt and Light. Please pray for us all in this difficult transition. We have a lot to do in the next 3-4 weeks, and we have not decided on an official move-out date.
2) We do not know how long Ben will have to be in Utah without the girls and me. This is going to be hard on all of us. Please pray that God provides John with a job as soon as possible and that He works out our housing quickly, as well. Please pray for protection over our marriage and our family as we are apart. Pray, also, that John is able to complete his readings, papers, and tests for his online classes in the midst of this transition.
3) We are looking at moving costs somewhere around the $5000 mark. This includes moving & storing our belongings, gas & travel expenses, and one-way flights for the girls and me to finally get there. We do not have that kind of money to spend, as our finances have been stretched to the limit every month we’ve been here for seminary. We are praying for and trusting in God’s provision for this. We have seen His miraculous provisions time and time again through the years. We know He is faithful, and we desire to be as well. Please pray for these expenses to be taken care of.
In all these things, please pray for wisdom, discernment, strength, and faithfulness for us as we seek to follow Christ in this calling.
John, Emily, Sarah, and Cary
